Reserve in the medical service of the Bundeswehr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The reserve strengthens the Bundeswehr if necessary and supplements the active structures in the event of personnel bottlenecks. For the Central Medical Service of the Federal Armed Forces (ZSanDstBw), the reserve is an integral part of the fulfillment of the tasks of national and alliance defense , national crisis and risk prevention , international crisis management and domestic medical supplies.

tasks

Reservists take part in exercises in active and inactive structures and are also involved in civil-military cooperation . The professional exchange of knowledge and skills is particularly in demand.

Against the background of reduced staffing levels and an increasing burden on active units, the reserve is becoming increasingly important again. The ZSanDstBw offers appointment options in various fields of activity.

Examples of uses include:

Stage manager for reservist matters in the medical service

The stage manager for reservist matters checks the areas of the reserve in his armed forces , in this case in the medical service. The areas of responsibility include:

  • Reservists training
  • Examination of the dispatch service posts
  • Management and further development of the department for reservist matters
  • Examination of the order situation and ability to fulfill them.

Since July 2019, Colonel Uwe Armin Schmidt has headed the department for reservist matters and is also stage manager for reservist matters in the Bundeswehr medical service.

Reinforcement reserve Bundeswehr hospitals

The reinforcement reserve of the Bundeswehr hospitals (VstkgRes Klinik) is a planned structural element and supports the Bundeswehr Central Hospital (BwZKrhs) in Koblenz and the Bundeswehr hospitals (BwKrhs) in Berlin , Hamburg , Westerstede and Ulm in establishing and maintaining operational readiness and perseverance.

This is important when parts of the original hospital staff perform tasks, for example in the context of foreign assignments or assistance. A VstkgRes Clinic unit consists of 102 posts and is composed of groups with different specialist skills.

The reservists at VstkgRes Clinic, taking into account the personal possibilities, perform reservist service as required by the health facility or regularly in shorter exercises to maintain their skills and competencies.
