Rettenbach is a district of Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria , but separated from Deggendorf in terms of urban planning.
location
It is about six kilometers southwest of Deggendorf city center. The center of this parish is the Catholic branch church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary , which can be seen from a great distance.
history
In the second Duke Surbar , published before 1300, the place Roetenpach is registered in the Regional Court of Deggendorf . In the land clerk accounts of the Straubing Rent Office from 1421/22, Rettenbach appears alongside Haag and Wallersdorf as one of three offices of the Deggendorf regional court. In 1464 Rettenbach is mentioned as the main team, to which Stauffendorf and Mainkofen also belonged in addition to Rettenbach , from 1474 Rettenbach was the seat of a chairman in the Natternberg office .
With the first community edict of 1808/1811 Rettenbach became part of the tax district Natternberg, with the second community edict of 1818/1821 part of the community Natternberg. With the community of Natternberg, Rettenbach came to the large district town of Deggendorf on May 1, 1978.
In church terms, Rettenbach belongs to the parish Michaelsbuch . The first documented message from a Marienkirche in Rettenbach contains a document from the Metten Monastery from the beginning of the 14th century. In the 18th century the Rettenbach church was also a place of pilgrimage.
The population was 533 at the 1987 census.
Attractions
- Filial church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary . After two lightning strikes in the steeple of the dilapidated previous church, the current rococo church was built in 1752 according to the plans of the Landshut master builder Georg Felix Hirschstetter. The main building stood in 1754 and the tower was added in 1757. The ceiling frescoes on the story of Mary were painted by Christian Wink in 1789 , the high altar by Christian Jorhan the Elder in 1760 , the side altars and pulpit by Joseph Deutschmann around 1760 .
