The Reuterweg was one of the first barges that up for the ride to three barges of type Europe IIa received an approval. It was built in 1981 for the shipping company Lehnkering Montan Transport AG at the Hilgers shipyard in Rheinbrohl . Together with the three push barges, around 10,000 tons of cargo can be transported.
construction
The Reuterweg is a two-screw ship for the transport of general cargo and bulk cargo on the Rhine from Basel to the ARA ports and its tributaries. The load compartment floor is reinforced for the transport of iron ore. The hull has a double floor and wall passages. After extensive tests at the Research Institute for Inland Shipbuilding in Duisburg , a V-shaped frame was chosen for the foredeck and a particularly energy-saving shape with transom and Kort nozzles for the aft . Two MaK type 8 M 332 AK diesel engines , each throttled to 1100 kW at 750 rpm, are installed as a drive . The power is transmitted via reversing gears to the two propellers, which run in nozzles, with a diameter of 1.85 m. The propeller power is 956 kW each. The engines are equipped with turbochargers and charge air cooling.
The steering system consists of 2 × 2 surface Schilling oars that are operated electro-hydraulically. Each pair of oars can be operated separately or in parallel. Operation is via a flow self-control system. A four-channel bow thruster with 310 hp is installed in the foredeck as a maneuvering aid. Two 49-kVA diesel generators and a 35-kVA shaft generator are installed on board for the power supply ; an 8-kVA emergency power generator and a 24-volt 700 Ah buffer battery are located in the foredeck.
The wheelhouse can be adjusted in height by six meters and is equipped with a one-man control stand with two radar systems. The living rooms are set up in the elastically mounted deckhouse on the aft ship. Eight single and one double cabins, sanitary facilities, a kitchen and a lounge are available for the crew. All rooms have a supply and exhaust air system.
The loading space is covered with 15 sliding hatches , three of which can be moved one above the other. This means that a maximum of 66 percent of the loading space opening is accessible.
