Revelation Records (jazz label)

Revelation Records was an independent American jazz record label that existed in the 1970s .

Revelation Records was founded in Los Angeles in the late 1960s by Jon Horwich and John William "Bill" Hardy, who worked full-time at UCLA . Hardy had already made contact with Dick Bock from Pacific Jazz Records at the beginning of the decade , and he wrote liner notes for their productions by Bud Shank , Gerry Mulligan and the Jazz Crusaders . After founding Revelation Records , Hardy intended to record mainly unknown musicians from West Coast jazz . As a result, a total of 48 Revelation LPs were created on the label until 1986, including a. Clare Fischer , Anthony Ortega ( New Dance 1968), Bobby Bradford & John Carter 's New Art Jazz Ensemble ( Seeking 1969), Joe Albany , Forrest Westbrook , Putter Smith , Alan Broadbent , Jack Reilly , Paul Nash / Mark Isham , Frank Strazzeri , Carmell Jones and Jerry Coker . The first release was the LP Sprung Free! by guitarist Dennis Budimir with Gary Peacock and Bill Goodwin . As Revelation # 12 appeared in 1969. Warne Marsh LP Ne Plus Ultra , which (as further Revelation productions) later Hathut Records re-released.
