Revierpark
A Revierpark is a park or leisure landscape in the Ruhr area .
The concept of the Revierpark goes back to ideas from the time of the establishment of the settlement association Ruhrkohlen District (SVR) in 1920 . They were realized in the 1970s to increase the recreational value in the industrial Ruhr area. In addition to extensive green areas, there are diverse sports facilities in the district parks.
The parks tie in with the people 's park idea of the 1920s. The announcement text for the Revierpark Vonderort explained: “The Revierpark should contain the most diverse facilities for the most diverse population groups and age groups. These include, for example, water playgrounds, children's highways, horse paddocks, hobby gas stations with repair and car wash areas for park visitors. A visit to the park should not fail because a member of a family wants to do car repairs or car washes. "
The district parks from east to west

- Gysenbergpark , Herne (1970)
- Revierpark Nienhausen , Gelsenkirchen / Essen (1972)
- Revierpark Vonderort , Oberhausen / Bottrop (1974)
- Mattlerbusch Revierpark , Duisburg (1979)
As part of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park, all the district parks were linked by a network of cycle paths and form the basis of the Emscher Landscape Park .
