Reyesia chilensis is a plant type from the genus Reyesia in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Reyesia chilensis is a perennial plant that branches out from a woody base and forms wiry, finely hairy branches. The lower leaves are inversely lanceolate, 4 to 5 cm long and 5 mm wide. They are slightly lobed or have entire margins, hairless and tapered to an elongated petiole . The leaf veins stand out clearly on the underside. The upper leaves are largely reduced to linear scales.

The flowers are scattered terminally or almost terminally. The flower stalks are thread-like, hairy at the tip and accompanied by scale-like bracts . The calyx is five-lobed, bell-shaped or urn-shaped and 2 mm long, the ribs extend to the tips of the calyx lobes and alternate with the arches between the lobes. The crown is colored white, when dry it has a noticeable bluish vein. The corolla tube widens increasingly, the coronet is bell-shaped and covered with short corolla lobes. The four stamens are twofold, the stamens hairy. The stylus is winged sides, the scar has two arms.

The fruit is a four-lobed capsule fruit , the lobes are about as long as the calyx lobes. The fruits contain fine seeds .

Occurrence

The species is widespread in central Chile .
