Rhine half marathon

The Rhine Half Marathon is a half marathon that has been taking place in Cologne on the right bank of the Rhine since 2006 , initially under the name GAG-Erlebnis-Halbmarathon.

In 2010 TuS Köln took over rrh. In 1874 the event from the previous host MTV Köln 1850 and on the occasion of the VIII. Gay Games also organized a marathon in which two laps were run. 166 men and 28 women reached the destination. In the open classification, Frank Löschner won in 2:42:09 h and the Austrian Judith Priglinger in 3:32:40 h. In the Gay Games ranking, Abdellah Saadani (2nd overall, 2:50:10 h) and Ulrike Hellmich (2nd overall, 3:37:04 h) won the marathon, as did the American Rich Velazquez (3rd overall , 1:15:56 h) and the Briton Suran Dickson (2nd overall, 1:26:34 h) in the half marathon.

In 2011 MTV Cologne 1850 took over the organization again, now without a 5 km run. In 2012 the event was supplemented by a 10 km run. In 2013 the run, which was supposed to take place in June, was canceled due to the withdrawal of the previous name sponsor GAG Immobilien . The next edition is planned for 2015.

route

Until 2010, a large lap with start and finish on Wiener Platz in Mülheim was run, which led via Buchforst , Buchheim and Holweide into the heathland around Gut Mielenforst in the south of Dellbrück and returned to the starting point via Brück , Merheim and Höhenberg .

In 2011, the start was moved to the Mülheimer Brücke and a two-lap course was introduced, which initially runs downstream on the right bank of the Rhine . After a round through the Schlosspark Stammheim , it goes on the Düsseldorfer Straße to Mülheim back to the finish on the Wiener Platz.
