Rheinbaben , also Reinbaben , is the name of an old Silesian noble family . The name changed between Ry (i) m (n) bab (e, a, en), Reymbaben, R (h) einbaben and Ryanbaben.

history

The family was first mentioned in a document in 1272 with Paul Rymbab . He belonged to Duke Henry IV of Silesia . The family, which appeared under different spellings, even with the name rainbow, was represented in the Silesian nobility for centuries. In the course of time, however, relatives also settled in Poland , the Mark Brandenburg , Pomerania and West Prussia .

Paschka Rymbabe lived in a document in 1434 and was the progenitor of the branches that are still in bloom today. His descendants settled in Kadlau near Breslau and Stampen near Oels . In the 17th century, two major lines then formed, an older and a younger. Two branches of the older line which is customary law carried Freiherr titles in 1881 and 1882 Kingdom of Prussia been confirmed. A branch of the younger line that went extinct around 1800 was awarded the baron status by diploma in 1736 .

The sex produced eminent civil servants and officers. The polyhistoric baron Georg Wilhelm von Rheinbaben (1674–1739) was president of the Saxon-Weimar secret council. Baron Georg von Rheinbaben (1855–1921) was Prussian Minister of State and Upper President of the Rhine Province .

The family coat of arms shows a jumping black stag with red antlers in gold . The deer is growing on the helmet. The helmet covers are black and gold.
