Rhené Jaque

Rhené Jaque (aka Marguerite (Marie Alice) Cartier , born February 4, 1918 in Beauharnois ; † July 31, 2006 in Montreal ) was a Canadian composer and music teacher.

Live and act

As sister Jacques-René, Rhené Jaque had been a member of the Order of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary since 1938 and at that time also studied at the École de musique Vincent-d'Indy with Claude Champagne , François Morel , Jean Vallerand and Marvin Duchow theory and composition as well as violin with Louis Bailly and Camille Couture .

Since 1943 she has been teaching violin, cello and music theory at the École Vincent d'Indy . In 1972 she took courses with Tony Aubin at the Académie Internationale in Nice . She composed numerous atonal pieces for violin and for piano for teaching purposes, as well as songs , works for chamber music and a symphony . Pianists such as Rachel Cavalho , Antonín Kubálek , Allen Reiser and Elaine Keillor made recordings of their piano works.
