Rhynchobatus ( Gr .: “Rhingchos” = snout, Latin : “batis” = rays) is a genus of rays (Batoidea). The large, up to three meters long fish live in the Red Sea , in the Indo-Pacific and in the eastern Atlantic , on the coast of West Africa, on the continental shelf . They feed on bottom-dwelling fish, crustaceans and molluscs and are ovoviviparous .

features

Rhynchobatus species mediate between sharks and rays in their appearance. The front part of the body with the head and muzzle forms an acute angle, the pectoral and pelvic fins are clearly separated from the body, the first dorsal fin sits above the pelvic fins, the second on the caudal peduncle. The tail ends in a large, bilobed caudal fin .
