Ricardo Espalter (born April 14, 1924 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † March 10, 2007 in Maldonado ) was a Uruguayan actor .

Life

Espalter, initially employed as a civil servant at the UTE at a young age , was seen as a multi-award-winning actor in theater as well as in film and especially on television. He was not limited to the Rio-Platensian area, but was also active as an actor in the USA, Venezuela and Cuba. He made his theater debut with the group La Mascára in 1956 in the play Si el asesino fuera inocente , directed by Denis Molina . In the following years he acted in this theater group as well as in the Club de Teatro in numerous roles. Directors under whom he worked at that time were, for example, N. Weisell, B. Mussitelli, GA Ruegger, S. Otermin, M. Blanco, J. Estruch and others. In 1993, after taking a long break from the theater, he returned to the stage with a role in Ricardo Prietos Garúa . As a film actor, Espalter shot in both Montevideo and Buenos Aires. He made his film debut in 1962 in the film La raya amarilla . The dozen films he starred in included Toto Paniagua from 1980 and El Dirigible , which was made in 1994 under the direction of Pablo Dottas .

His numerous television appearances, in which he appeared in particular as a comedian and, among others, at the side of Eduardo D'Angelo , Andrés Redondo , Julio Frade and Enrique Almada , took place on a large number of television stations. He could be seen on the Montevidean TV stations Canal 4 , 5 , 10 and 12 . In Buenos Aires, the channels Canal 7 , Canal 9 , Canal 11 and Canal 13 and in Santiago Canal 7 and Canal 13 showed his acting performances. Programs in which he participated were for example Telecataplum , Jaujarana , Comicolor , Hupumorpo , Decalegrón , Medio Mundo and Frente a frente .

The numerous prizes that he has received in the course of his career include, for example, the Premio Ariel in 1963 , the Martín Fierro in 1975 and the Premio Konex in 1981. The latter was awarded to him by a jury chaired by Ulyses Petit de Murat , the Espalter as named one of the five best protagonists in the history of the Argentine radio and television show .

After he was last housed in the Sanatorio Mautone in Maldonado due to his illness , he died there at the age of 82 as a result of kidney failure .
