Ricardo Izquierdo

Ricardo Izquierdo Reyes (* 1978 in Matanzas ) is a Cuban jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone ).

Izquierdo Reyes began to learn the cello at the age of 8 . He switched to the alto saxophone when he was studying at the Escuela National de Artes in Havana from 1994 . Then he was a member of the quintet of Alexis Bosch and the quartet of Carlos Maza, with whom he toured Europe and recorded the album Fidelidad . In 2001 he moved to Paris. There he worked with Rémi Vignolo , Frank Lacy , Michel Zenino, Ernest Dawkins , Napoleon Maddox, Raul Paz , Hamid Drake , Maxime Fougeres, Manu Codjia , Jason Palmer , Jeff Ballard , Orishas and Bojan Z together. He recorded an album with his own quartet and played at the Marciac Festival . He can also be heard on albums by Mayra Andrade , Josiah Woodson, Mario Canonge and Mátyás Szandai .
