Richard Béringuier

Richard Béringuier (born March 4, 1854 in Berlin ; † March 9, 1916 in Russia ) was a district judge in Berlin and co-founder of the German Huguenot Society .

family

Béringuier came from a respected Huguenot family that had lived in Berlin since the 18th century . His great-grandfather Pierre Louis Béringuier (born May 10, 1748 in Berlin; † June 1, 1810 in Berlin) was a co-owner of a specialty and materials store, a member of the elders of the merchants of the materials store and city ​​councilor of Berlin. A large grave plaque from the Royal Prussian Iron Foundry adorns the tomb in the churchyard of the French community to this day .

His grandfather was Christian (Chrétien) Béringuier († 1845) and his grandmother's name was Amalie Béringuier, nee. Pauly (Pauli) († 1860).

From 1852 to 1860, his father Louis Béringuier ran the map business taken over by his father-in-law, Simon Schropp . From 1860 onwards it was run by his uncle Dr. med. Leopold Ferdinand Béringuier continued until 1878. His mother was Anna Béringuier, b. Cloth.

Richard Béringuier's first marriage to Anna Béringuier, b. Steffens († 1891) married, with whom he had two children, including their son Raoul. In his second marriage he married Claire Béringuier, b. La Quiante († 1896), with whom he had two children and a stillborn daughter († 1893). The third woman he married in 1902 was Therese (Thea) Béringuier, nee. Mittenzwei and widowed seals († in Pforzheim ).

Life

Béringuier graduated from Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium and graduated from high school. Even during his school days he regularly attended events organized by the Association for the History of Berlin . In 1875 he began to study law. He later did a PhD.

Béringuier did his military service with the Guard Cuirassier Regiment Emperor Nikolaus I of Russia (Brandenburgisches) No. 6 and in 1880 became lieutenant in the reserve with the Brandenburg Train Battalion No. 3 in Berlin. Since autumn 1915 he was a war volunteer manager of a stage horse depot in Russia and died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 1916. The Secret Cabinet Councilor Rudolf von Valentini sent a condolence expression from Emperor Wilhelm II :

"His Majesty the Emperor and King have announced the passing of the meritorious, long-time First Chairman of the Association for the History of Berlin, Majors and District Court Judge Dr. Béringuier, received with lively regret, and let the Association extend their condolences. "

On March 17th he was buried in the French churchyard under an escort of honor. The gravestone bears the inscription "He died in the east as a hero for the fatherland".

From 1876 onwards, Béringuier gave more than 20 lectures for the Association for the History of Berlin , on whose board he was elected in 1881. In 1884 he founded the "Notices of the Association for the History of Berlin", which he edited until 1891. Theodor Fontane's accession to the association in 1885 is mainly due to Béringuier. On January 14, 1899 he was elected chairman of the association. In addition, he was an active member of the heraldic association "Herold" . Since 1889 he was a member of the Academy of Non-Profit Science in Erfurt and in 1890 co-founder of the German Huguenot Association . In total Association of German History and Antiquities clubs he worked from 1885 to 1891 as managing director and publisher of the correspondence sheet. In addition, he was Deputy Secretary General of the Consistory of the French Church.
