Richard Ernst Kepler (born March 27, 1851 in Stuttgart ; † around 1930; also written Keppler ) was a popular German illustrator and painter .

Richard Ernst Kepler studied in Stuttgart , Munich and Vienna . Kepler was a prolific illustrator of children's and youth literature as well as anthologies , fairy tales and legends . He worked in Stuttgart and worked primarily for publishing companies in Stuttgart and southern Germany.

The graphic drafts for the first printed Advent calendar , which appeared in 1903 in the lithographic art printing company Reichhold & Lang in Munich (RLM) on small poems by Gerhard Lang , came from Kepler, who subsequently created numerous designs for Advent calendars for the publishing house.
