Henflingen is a former French commune with 210 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region . The community belonged to the arrondissement Altkirch and the canton Hirsingue .
With effect from January 1, 2016, the former communities of Grentzingen , Henflingen and Oberdorf were merged to form Commune nouvelle Illtal .
geography
Henflingen is located in eastern France on the upper Ill in Sundgau , 117 kilometers southwest of Strasbourg , the capital of the region, about 24 kilometers west of the Swiss city of Basel and about 8 kilometers southeast of Altkirch , the seat of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement, on a middle Height of 344 meters above sea level . Henflingen's neighbors are Bettendorf in the northwest, Willer in the northeast and Grentzingen in the south.
Henflingen is assigned to a type Cfb (according to Köppen and Geiger) climate zone : warm, moderate rainy climate (C), fully humid (f), warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C (b). There is a maritime climate with a moderate summer.
history
In 1965, during archaeological excavations, the bronze hand of a statue from the Gallo-Roman period was found.
The Saint-Morand priory in Altkirch owned a Dinghof in Henflingen in the Middle Ages . The village itself, however, belonged to the Seigneurie Altkirch, which in turn belonged to the county of Pfirt until 1324 , to the Holy Roman Empire under the leadership of the Habsburgs until 1648 , and finally to the kings of France. There used to be a leper colony in Henflingen.

Culture and sights
Henflingen is represented with a flower in the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris (National Council of Flowered Cities and Villages). The "flowers" are awarded in the course of a regional competition, whereby a maximum of three flowers can be achieved.
The former Mairie (mayor's office) and school building in Henflingen was built in 1845. On the main street of the municipality there is a cross from 1728 with a bas-relief depicting Saint Martin of Tours on a horse. It is privately owned.

The main occupations in Henflingen are agriculture , feed production and the breeding of domestic cattle , domestic pigs and edible mushrooms . Grain and fodder beet are especially grown.
