Town hall of Illtal (in Oberdorf)

Illtal ( Alsatian : Ìlltàl ) is a French commune with 1,359 inhabitants (as of 2013) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Altkirch arrondissement and the Altkirch canton . The community is also part of the Sundgau community association .

The municipality was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2016 through the unification of the previous municipalities of Grentzingen , Henflingen and Oberdorf . The town hall (Mairie) is located in the building of the previous town hall of Oberdorf.

geography

Illtal, on the Ill river , is located in Sundgau around 21 kilometers south of Mulhouse and 21 kilometers west of Basel in the south of the Haut-Rhin department. The community consists of the settlements of Grentzingen, Henflingen, Oberdorf and Ruederbachweg, the hamlets of Annahof and Durrenrain and several individual farms.

Neighboring communities are Willer in the northeast, Steinsoultz in the east, Waldighofen in the southeast, Riespach in the south, Feldbach in the southwest, Ruederbach in the west and Bettendorf in the west and northwest.
