Walheim is a French commune with 896 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region ( Alsace until 2015 ). It belongs to the arrondissement Altkirch , the canton Altkirch and the municipality association Sundgau .
geography
Walheim im Sundgau is located 20 kilometers south of Mulhouse and four kilometers northeast of Altkirch on both sides of the Ill river at an average altitude of 273 m above sea level.
Neighboring communities of Walheim are Tagolsheim in the north, Luemschwiller in the northeast, Emlingen in the southeast, Wittersdorf in the south, Altkirch in the southwest and Aspach in the west.

The department road D432 runs through the municipality of Walheim from Mulhouse to Altkirch . Walheim has a train station on the Paris – Mulhouse railway line , at which the TER Alsace and TER Franche-Comté trains stop .
Personalities
- Jean-Thiebaut Pflieger was Lieutenant Colonel of the Grande Armée under Emperor Napoleon I. From 1829 to 1832 he was mayor and administrator of Walheim.
