Walheim is a French commune with 896 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region ( Alsace until 2015 ). It belongs to the arrondissement Altkirch , the canton Altkirch and the municipality association Sundgau .

geography

Walheim im Sundgau is located 20 kilometers south of Mulhouse and four kilometers northeast of Altkirch on both sides of the Ill river at an average altitude of 273 m above sea level.

Neighboring communities of Walheim are Tagolsheim in the north, Luemschwiller in the northeast, Emlingen in the southeast, Wittersdorf in the south, Altkirch in the southwest and Aspach in the west.
