Hindlingen is a French commune with 636 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

geography

The municipality of Hindlingen im Sundgau is located in the Largue valley , eight kilometers north of the Swiss border and 23 kilometers east of Belfort between Friesen in the southeast and Strueth in the northwest.

history

During excavations, finds from the Neolithic age were made, which prove that the municipality was inhabited at that time. 735 the community was mentioned for the first time as Chuntilingas ("with Huntilos people"). From 1324 to 1648 it belonged to the county of Pfirt , then to Habsburg . In the First World War Hindlingen was partially destroyed.

  • The cycle path on the old railway line from Seppois-le-Bas to Dannemarie .
  • The Sainte-Anne church was built around 1900. Until this church was built, Hindlingen belonged to the parish of Friesen. However, a Gothic chapel , which was built before 1441, previously stood in its place .
