Diefmatten is a French commune with 290 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Altkirch , the canton Masevaux and is a member of the community association Sud Alsace Largue .
geography
The municipality of Diefmatten is located in the valley of the Largue tributary Soultzbach , around 20 kilometers southwest of Mulhouse near the Burgundian Gate . The A 36 (Mulhouse-Besançon) runs through the north of the municipality .
Neighboring communities of Diefmatten are Soppe-le-Bas in the north, Gildwiller in the east and south-east, Hecken in the south, Sternenberg in the south-west and Bretten in the west (point of contact).
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Diefmatten belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Altkirch district in the Upper Alsace district .
