Jewish community
Around 1840, 75% of the village was inhabited by Alsatian West Yiddish- speaking Jews, which is why it was nicknamed "Jerusalem des Sundgau". The village's Yiddish dialect is documented in Florence Guggenheim-Grünberg : Swiss dialects in text and sound, I 4, Frauenfeld 1966, also in the Cahiers du CREDYO 5, 2010 (with CD).
