Wolfersdorf is a French commune with 372 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region ( Alsace until 2015 ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Altkirch , the canton Masevaux and is a member of the community association Sud Alsace Largue .

geography

The community of Wolfersdorf is located in the Burgundian Gate , between Altkirch and Belfort . The Rhine-Rhône Canal , which crosses the Largue with a canal bridge , runs through the municipality . The channel trough, built in 1834, is 35 meters long and rests on four pillars with brick arches.

The neighboring communities of Wolfersdorf are Traubach-le-Bas in the north, Buethwiller in the northeast, Gommersdorf in the east, Dannemarie in the southeast, Retzwiller in the southwest and Elbach in the west.

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Wolfersdorf belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Altkirch district in the Upper Alsace district .
