Kiffis is a French commune with 249 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the arrondissement Altkirch , the canton Altkirch and the municipality association Sundgau .

geography

The municipality of Kiffis is located in the Jura , in the extreme south of Alsace between the border river Lützel and the Blauenberg . The village center on a terrace above the Lützel valley is located at around 565 meters above sea level.

Kiffis borders on the Alsatian communities of Lucelle , Ligsdorf , Sondersdorf , Raedersdorf , Lutter and Wolschwiller as well as on the Swiss communities of Kleinlützel and Roggenburg .

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Kiffis belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Altkirch district in the Upper Alsace district .
