geography

The municipality Winkel im Sundgau in the south of Alsace lies at the foot of the Glaserberg . The Ill , the longest tributary of the Rhine in Alsace , has its source in the municipality .

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Winkel belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Altkirch district in the Upper Alsace district .
