The community is a member of the Sundgau community association .

history

In the Middle Ages, numerous male and female monasteries in Bettlach had basic rights, such as the Klingental and St. Alban monasteries in Basel.

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Bettlach belonged as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine to the German Empire and was assigned to the Altkirch district in the Upper Alsace district .

economy

The most important line of business is agriculture ; small businesses are also available. In the 19th century there was a hammer forge , a brickworks and several house weaving mills in the village .
