Muespach ( German also Müspach ) is a French commune with 899 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the canton Altkirch and community association Sundgau .
geography
The municipality of Muespach is located in the valley of the Gersbach , which arises from the confluence of the Muesbach and Willerbach and flows into the Ill a few kilometers further west . The Sundgau community is 18 kilometers from Altkirch and 18 kilometers from Basel .
Neighboring communities of Muespach are Berentzwiller in the north, Knœringue in the northeast, Muespach-le-Haut in the east, Fislis and Werentzhouse in the south, Durmenach in the southwest and Roppentzwiller and Steinsoultz in the west.
The community owned a train station on the Waldighoffen – Saint-Louis-la-Chaussée railway from 1915. This comprised a siding and a loading siding. Passenger traffic was discontinued in 1955 and the line closed in 1960.

The municipality was created on August 1, 1972 through the merger of the municipalities Muespach-le-Bas and Moyen-Muespach .
