Richard G. Turner, Jr.

Richard G. Turner, Jr. (* 1946 ) is an American landscape architect and horticultural specialist .

Turner studied architecture and landscape architecture at the University of Michigan . Then he moved to California. Turner has designed gardens in Michigan , Ohio , New Jersey, and California . He taught garden architecture in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of California at Berkeley for six years . Turner was the managing director of Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek . He has been editor of Pacific Horticulture magazine since 1997 .

Turner has made many research trips, including to Europe and Australia. He was the director of the San Francisco Landscape Garden Shop and director of education for the Strybing Arboretum Society.

Turner acted as technical advisor for the English-language original edition of the 2003 botanical work Botanica . He edited the book Trees of Golden Gate Park and San Francisco and was a consultant editor for The Nature Company Guide to Natural Gardening . He was also involved in the works The Ultimate Plant and Garden Book and Sunset Western Landscaping Book .

Turner is a member of the Advisory Board of the Elisabeth Carey Miller Botanical Garden.
