Richard J. Danzig

Richard Jeffrey Danzig (born September 8, 1944 in New York City ) is an American attorney and former Secretary of the Navy under President Bill Clinton from 1998 to 2001.

Danzig studied law at Yale University and philosophy at the University of Oxford , where he also received his doctorate. Between 1972 and 1977 he taught law at Stanford and Harvard Universities , before he worked in various positions in the US Department of Defense from 1977 .

Danzig is currently working, among other things, as a senior advisor to the Think Tank Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. Since the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States there has been speculation about the future use of Danzig. He is a candidate for the post of National Security Advisor , as well as for the post of Deputy Secretary of Defense under the Republican Robert Gates , which he could replace later. He is married and has two children.
