Richard Koch (born June 8, 1895 in Magdeburg , † August 9, 1970 in Munich ) was a German author of science fiction novels.

Life

Richard Koch studied mathematics and natural sciences in Jena , Freiburg im Breisgau and Heidelberg . After graduating, he worked at an observatory for years. In both world wars he took part as an officer in the intelligence service.

In 1948 he became a freelance writer. He wrote science articles and short stories for newspapers and magazines. In 1950 he made his debut with the SF novel "Plan von Polaris". By the end of the 1960s, a good two dozen novels followed, some of which also appeared as magazine novels in the series Utopia Zukunftsroman , Terra Utopische Romane and Terra Nova . In addition to his stories, he wrote numerous short, popular science articles that were printed in the booklet series Terra Extra and Terra Astra (10 articles on atoms for peace , 10 articles on the outlook for the year 2000, etc.).

In 1959 he was elected president of Eurotopia , an association of German and Austrian science fiction clubs.
