Richard Meyer (born September 1, 1885 in Ragnit , East Prussia ; † June 23, 1970 in Bonn ) was a German educator , administrative officer and politician ( MVP , later GB / BHE , GDP ).

Life and work

Meyer was born the son of a building contractor. He worked as a teacher in Werden at Heydekrug from 1905 and was a school councilor in the Memel region from 1920 . From 1941 to 1945 he worked as a government and school council in Gdansk . In 1944 he was appointed to the senior government council. After the Second World War , he moved to West Germany as a displaced person , settled in Lower Saxony and worked there as a district school council.

Meyer joined the Memelland People's Party (MVP) and was a member of the Memelland Landtag in Memelland from 1925 to 1935 . From 1927 to 1935 he served as Vice President of the State Parliament.

Meyer, who joined the GB / BHE around 1950, was Deputy Mayor of the City of Oldenburg from 1952 to 1955 . From 1951 to 1955 and again from July 1, 1959, when he replaced the MP Otto Wendt , until 1963 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . From 1951 to 1955 he was also vice-president of the state parliament. Since 1961 he was a member of the All-German Party (GDP). From July 1955 to 1956 he was a member of the personnel appraisal committee for the new Bundeswehr .
