Richard Pius Miles

Richard Pius Miles OP (born May 17, 1791 in Prince George's County , Maryland , USA , † February 21, 1860 in Nashville , Tennessee ) was Bishop of Nashville .

Life

Richard Pius Miles joined the Dominican Order in October 1806 and made perpetual profession on May 13, 1810 . He received on 21 September 1816, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Miles served as a missionary in Ohio and Kentucky .

On July 28, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Nashville. The bishop of Saint Louis , Joseph Rosati CM , donated him episcopal ordination on September 16, 1838 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Vincennes , Simon William Gabriel Bruté de Rémur SJ , and the Coadjutor Bishop of Bardstown , Guy Ignatius Chabrat PSS .
