Richard Immanuel Richter (born October 10, 1839 in Skassa ; † May 27, 1901 in Leipzig ) was a German educator.

Life

The pastor's son Richter attended the prince's school St. Afra in Meißen from Michaelis 1852 and studied theology and philology at the universities of Leipzig and Tübingen after graduating from high school . After the state examination, he did a short probationary period at the Nikolaigymnasium in Leipzig. In 1863 he became a teacher in Plauen , in 1866 a teacher for the middle classes at the grammar school in Zwickau , in 1874 vice rector and professor at the newly founded royal grammar school in Dresden-Neustadt . In 1880 he was a founding rector of the Royal and later to King Albert named high school in Leipzig called. From January 1, 1884, he was a member of the examination committee for candidates for the higher teaching post. From 1886 to 1894 he held an extraordinary professorship for education at the Philosophical Faculty of Leipzig University and was appointed director of the philological department of the educational seminar, which was expanded under his leadership. On April 1, 1894, he was appointed full honorary professor and gave lectures on didactics and the various branches of high school education.

From 1893 he was head of the educational department of Teubner's New Yearbooks .

From 1871 he was with Mathilde, geb. Green married.
