Richard Riedel (born November 3, 1895 in Liebenwerda ; † December 19, 1979 in Friedrichsdorf , Taunus) was a German journalist , screenwriter and film production manager .

Riedel studied German and art history from 1919 and graduated with a doctorate . In addition (1920) he continued his education at the theater school of the Volksbühne Berlin . From 1921 to 1927 he was the artistic director of the Grenzmark Theater, then he switched to the newspaper and worked as an editor and feature editor (1930 to 1934) on the capital's newspaper Der Tag .

In 1934 Riedel switched to film and became a dramaturge in the service of UFA . In this role he was in charge of the 1936 and 1937 films Schlußakkord, Das Mädchen Irene and Zu neue Ufern . During the Second World War, Riedel was involved in a number of prestigious films, the UFA gave him his own production group.
