Richard Taylor Schulze (born August 7, 1929 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is a former American politician . Between 1975 and 1993 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Richard Schulze attended Haverford High School until February 1948 . In 1948 and 1949 he studied at the University of Houston . Since 1950 he traded household appliances in Paoli . Between 1951 and 1953 he served in the US Army . From 1967 to 1969 he was employed by the District Court in Chester County . Until 1968 he also continued his education with courses among others at Temple University . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . From 1969 to 1974 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives .

In the 1974 congressional election , Schulze was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the fifth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded John H. Ware on January 3, 1975 . After eight re-elections, he was able to complete nine legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1993 . He was temporarily a member of the Committee on Ways and Means and the Armed Forces Committee. In 1992 he gave up another candidacy.

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Richard Schulze was a consultant for the Republican-affiliated company Valis Associates . He now lives in Arlington ( Virginia ) and Windermere ( Florida ). He is married for the second time and has four grown children.
