Richard Weltrich

Karl Appollonius Richard Weltrich (born February 10, 1844 in Ansbach , † January 2, 1913 in Munich ) was a German literary historian and author.

Life

The son of a government councilor studied philosophy , aesthetics , literary history and classical philology at the universities of Munich , Zurich and Erlangen from 1861 to 1865 . He then worked first as a high school teacher and from 1873 as a teacher at the cadet school in Munich. In 1875 he was appointed professor at the Bavarian War Academy . From 1890 he devoted himself increasingly to writing. He began a biography of Friedrich Schiller, of which he only completed the first volume, which covered the years up to 1792 and had almost 900 pages. In 1902 he received his doctorate on the basis of this work at the University of Tübingen .
