Richard Wengenmeier (born February 9, 1928 in Marktoberdorf ; † September 25, 2002 there ) was a Bavarian state politician ( CSU ). From November 25, 1962 to October 13, 1994 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament , i.e. from the 5th to the 12th legislative period.

Life

Wengenmeier passed the master craftsman examination to become a furrier in 1952 . In 1960 he was elected to the city council and the district council of the then Marktoberdorf district (today Ostallgäu district ) in his home town of Marktoberdorf . In the state elections in autumn 1962, he won the direct mandate in the district of Marktoberdorf , which he always defended in the subsequent seven elections. Wengenmeier was chairman of the budget committee in the state parliament from 1977 for a total of 17 years.

Honors

Wengenmeier was a recipient of the Great Federal Cross of Merit . Pope John Paul II appointed him Commander of the Papal Order of Knights of St. Gregory the Great on May 21, 1989 . In Marktoberdorf a central square at the town hall and a hall of the Bavarian Music Academy are named after him.
