Ricou Browning (born February 16, 1930 in Fort Pierce , Florida ) is an American director , screenwriter , actor , stunt performer and cameraman .

Ricou Browning grew up near Jensen Beach . It was obvious that the sporty boy would start a career as a diver and diver. He started producing underwater shows before getting into film. He became known as the star of the monster in Jack Arnold's classic The Horror of the Amazon from 1954. He also played this role in the two sequels. Together with Ivan Tors , he produced films for television. Browning also worked as a director , assistant director , screenwriter and stuntman .

His son Ricou Browning Jr. also works for the film industry as a stuntman , coordinator, consultant and assistant director.
