The Rifugio Vazzoler (full name Rifugio Mario Vazzoler ; German Vazzolerhütte ) is an alpine refuge in the Italian region of Veneto in the Civetta group within the Dolomites . It is located at an altitude of 1714 m slm in the municipality of Taibon Agordino and belongs to the CAI section Conegliano . The hut is usually open from mid-June to the end of September and has 50 beds.
location
The hut is located at Col Negro di Pelsa about 3.5 km southwest of the Civetta above Val Corpassa . Not far from the hut rise almost vertical rock towers like the Torre Venezia or the Torre Trieste , through which challenging climbing routes also lead. Furthermore, the Dolomiten-Höhenweg 1 leads along the hut.
history
The hut was built between 1927 and 1928 by the CAI Section Conegliano with financial help from the Vazzoler family and officially opened in 1929. It is named after the climber from Conegliano and co-founder of the local CAI section Mario “Sparissi” Vazzoler, who died in a car accident in 1927 at the age of 23. The rifugio was expanded by one wing each in 1936 and 1956 and renovated in 1990. In 1947 a branch was built in the immediate vicinity of the hut and in 1958 the small chapel Madonna della Neve . In 1968 a small alpine botanical garden named after the Italian President Antonio Segni opened south of the Rifugio .
