LeAnn Rimes (born Margaret LeAnn Rimes Cibrian , * 28. August 1982 in Pearl , Mississippi ) is an American country- and pop - singer .
Rimes' biggest hit was Can't Fight the Moonlight from 2000; her best-selling album Blue from 1996. With Unchained Melody: The Early Years and You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs , she had two number one albums in 1997 in one year. By 2010 it had sold more than 40 million albums and more than 60 million records.
biography
Rimes was born in 1982 in Pearl, Mississippi, to Belinda Butler and Wilbur Rimes. Her family moved to Garland , Texas in 1988 . She began singing at the age of two and completed her singing and dance training at a young age. At the age of five, she took part in a local talent show and then began performing in a musical theater. After appearing on television, Rimes made a number of appearances at Johnnie's High Country Music Revue in Arlington , which earned her the attention of nationwide talent scouts.
By the age of nine, Rimes was already an accomplished singer. She toured various states with her father and regularly sang the national anthem of the USA a cappella at the start of the Dallas Cowboys' NFL games . In order to give his now eleven-year-old daughter more attention, the father began to publish her recordings under the independent label Nor Vak Ja. Between 1992 and 1996 three albums were released there.
Radio presenter Bill Mack was impressed by Rime's vocal abilities and over the next three years tried to market them with his 1956 self-written song Blue . In 1995 Mack got her a record deal with Curb Records after Blue was awarded a Grammy , among other things . With Unchained Melody: The Early Years and You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs , Rimes had two number one albums in the US charts in 1997. In 1998 she released a cover version of the Prince song Purple Rain .
In 2000, Rimes scored her most commercially successful song with Can't Fight the Moonlight from the film Coyote Ugly . In May 2000, she filed a lawsuit against her father and a former manager for misappropriating $ 8 million in royalties . In 2002 Rimes married the dancer Dean Sheremet; the marriage was divorced in June 2010. As an actress, Rimes has played in a number of productions so far, including the television production Nora Roberts - The Shine of Heaven . While filming, she met actor Eddie Cibrian , whom she married in 2011. Rimes also had a role in Good Intentions and in Love and Other Obstacles .
