Ring Road (Afghanistan)

The Ring Road is a ring-shaped network of trunk roads in Afghanistan . It is 2200 kilometers long and connects many Afghan cities.

The A1, which is part of the Afghan section of the international AH1 , runs from the Chaiber Pass , on the border with Pakistan, to Jalalabad and Kabul . From Kabul the A1 is part of the Ring Road. The next larger towns on the A1 are Ghazni , Qalat-i-Ghilzai , Kandahar , Farah and Herat . The A1 and Ring Road separate at Herat. The A1 leads to Mashhad in Iran, while the Ring Road continues on the A76 to Qala-i-Naw , Maimana , Mazār-i Sharif , Pol-e Chomri , over the Salang Pass to Tscharikar and back to Kabul.
