The Rippach is a small river in Saxony-Anhalt . It rises in Kistritz, a district of Krauschwitz , flows through the towns of Teuchern , Taucha (Hohenmölsen) and Rippach and flows into the Saale after 27.2 km at Dehlitz on the right .
The Rippach flows through the Rippachtal, named after it, which gave its name to the Rippachtal intersection of the A9 and A38 .
history
At the end of the 16th century, water from the White Elster was supplied to the Rippach via the Elsterfloßgraben . This happened in the course of the timber transport to the Poserna saltworks and was discontinued after a few years after its closure due to unprofitability. The last severe flood occurred in 1941, when the city of Teuchern was largely flooded .
River name
The name of the creek was first mentioned in 976 as Ripe . Via Ridebach, the name changed to today's Rippach . The name is derived from the Old High German riot or Middle High German riet (see also Reet ), which means reed. So it is about the reed brook . In an older spring the brook is also called Rittbach.
