Rita Franceschini

Rita Franceschini (born March 7, 1958 in Baden ) is a Swiss linguist.

Live and act

Franceschini completed a degree in Romance and German at the University of Zurich , which she graduated with a licentiate in 1987 . From 1986 to 1991 she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of French Linguistics at the University of Basel . In 1992, she was at the University of Zurich with a dissertation on metacommunication doctorate . In the following years she taught in Zurich, Basel, at the University of Bergamo and at Middlebury College before doing her habilitation in Basel from 1998–1999 in Romance Philology. In 1999 Franceschini was appointed to a chair in the Romance Studies department at Saarland University , and in 2000 she was appointed university professor there. Since 2004 she has been a full professor for linguistics at the Free University of Bolzano , which she headed from 2004 to 2008 as rector. Her particular research interests include conversation analysis , language contact , code switching and second language acquisition .
