Ritual Carnage is a Japanese thrash metal band. The band's singer, bassist and front man, Dan Montgomery, is from the USA. The band has a record deal with the French label Osmose Productions .

biography

The singer and bassist Damian Montgomery played 10 years earlier in the band Pagan Faith , back then in Tampa , Florida . As part of his army service, he moved to Tokyo in 1986 and played in several local bands of different musical styles. From 1990 to 1993 he took a break to first found Scrap Tambourine , which were not very successful. Ritual Carnage then formed in 1994 with Alex Amedy and Bill Jokela. Also in that year Jokela and Amedy got out, which led to line-up problems for the band. A demo was recorded with session members Shinjiro Sawada and Ken at Morrisound Recording Studios in Tampa, Florida. The first concert was played in Meguro in December 1996 . Shortly afterwards Swada and Ken got out again to concentrate on their own band. Alex Amedy got back in. Hideo Inedo took over the bass from 1997. Due to personal differences, Alex Amedy left the company that same year.

In 1998 the first album The Highest Law was recorded in Morrisound. Naoya Hamaii became the new drummer and a few months later Shige Kamazawa joined as the second guitarist. The band chose Osmose Productions as a record company from among several offers. Ideno left the band shortly before the album was released. Montgomery took over the bass again. The album was received very favorably by the critics of the metal scene. The album achieved maximum ratings in established metal publications.

Ritual Carnage toured Japan in 1999 with Impaled Nazarene and Europe with Immortal and Benediction . In the same year Ritual Carnage played three more shows with Marduk . After the tours Kamazawa got out and was replaced by Nakabayashi. Towards the end of the year the band flew back to the States to record their second album Every Nerve Alive again at Morrisound . The cover was censored in Malaysia . A European tour with Krabathor followed. After the tour Nakabayashi got out again and was replaced by guitarist Hidenori Tanaki from the black metal band Tyrant. Several contributions to the sampler followed.

The brothers Masami and Wataru Yamada were brought into the band as guitarists in 2000. A tour of Japan with Vader and later with Dismember followed. Eddie Van Koide replaced Masami Yamada on guitar in 2001, and Koide had already stood in for two appearances in 1997. A Japan tour with God Dethroned and Krabathor also followed this year .

The Birth of Tragedy was released in 2002 . With Naoya Hamaii a permanent drummer has now been found. I, Infidel was published in 2005 . Danny Montgomery took Hiroyuki, a permanent bassist, on board and has only been responsible for the vocals ever since.
