Riudaura (also: Ridaura ) is a village with 478 inhabitants (as of 2019) in the Garrotxa in the Catalan province of Girona in Spain .

The place is located at the confluence of two source streams to the small river of the same name Riudaura in a very mountainous area at an altitude of 572 meters above sea level. In the west the place is bordered by the massif Puig Estela (1359 meters high) and by the Comarca Ripollès , in the east by the mountain range Sant Miquel del Mont and by the Vall de Bianya . This mountainous area is mainly composed of oak and beech forests. In the area of ​​the small river there are poplar forests. The place is characterized by agriculture. Mainly grain, maize and fodder are grown. In addition, cattle breeding (pigs, cattle, poultry) is operated. Tourism (various offers for holidays in the country) also plays an economic role in Riudaura. There are small metal processing companies and textile industries. However, the majority of the population goes to work in Olot .

The main church of Santa Maria was the center of the former Romanesque monastery of Riudaura . The place was originally administered under civil law from this monastery while it was under criminal law under the Vescomte of Bas. The parish church of Santa Maria also includes the church "Sant Miquel del Mont" (built in 1779) and the sanctuary "Santuari de la Font de Joan".

Administratively to the place belong some scattered farms and hamlets like the hamlet "Les Artigues" and the farm "La Plana de Croanyes".
