La Vall de Bianya is a municipality of 1264 inhabitants in the Garrotxa in the Catalan province of Girona in Spain . Since the incorporation of the town of Sant Salvador de Bianya in 1969, the area of the municipality extends over the entire valley of Bianya and then in the north over the area of Vall de Bac . The municipality is especially known for the numerous small Romanesque churches and chapels such as Sant Andreu de Socarrats , Santa Margarida de Bianya , Sant Pere Despuig , Sant Martí de Solamal or Sant Martí del Clot in their suburbs and hamlets, which were previously assigned to monasteries in the area .

The two creeks of Sant Ponç d'Aulina and Santa Llúcia de Puigmal flow through the valley of Bianya, forming the Riera de Bianya, the small river Bianya, at their confluence. The valley and the place are delimited by mountain ranges. In the south, for example, through the Sant Miquel del Mont massif , in the northeast through the Serra del Malforat mountain range , which separates the Vall de Bianya from the Vall de Bac , and in the north through the El puig Sou mountain , which separates the Garrotxa from the Ripollès district .

Mixed forests of holm oaks ( Quercus ilex ), downy oaks ( Quercus pubescens ) and pines can be found on these mountain ranges . The community has about 7000 hectares of pasture and 900 hectares of grain and potato cultivation area. Because of the lack of water in this valley, very few vegetables are grown. On the other hand, there is an important dairy and meat industry (cattle and pig breeding) in the Bianya valley. In the direction of Olot and Sant Joan les Fonts there are industrial areas in which textile, sausage and chemical industries, as well as local handicrafts are located.
