Riverside is a small town ( Town ) in Okanogan County in the US state of Washington . At the United States Census 2000 , Riverside had 348 residents; the population fell to 280 in the 2010 United States Census .

history

Riverside was first settled by Uriah Ward in the 1880s. When steam boats began traveling up the Okanogan River , Riverside was the furthest upstream station during the flood season. Riverside was officially recognized as a local authority on December 22, 1913 .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city occupies a total of 2.56 square kilometers, of which 2.51 square kilometers are land and the remainder is water. Occasionally considered part of Greater Omak , Omak Airport is located in the Riverside area.

2010 Census

As of the 2010 census , there were 280 residents, 128 households, and 78 families in Riverside. The population density was 111.5 per km ². There were 154 housing units at an average density of 61.3 per km².

The population consisted of 87.1% whites , 7.5% Indians , 1.8% other "races" and 3.6% of two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 6.4% of the population.

Of the 128 households, 23.4% had children under the age of 18, 45.3% were run by married couples living together , 10.9% by single mothers and 4.7% by single fathers; 39.1% were non-families. 32.8% of the households were singles and 10.9% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.68 people.

The median age in the city was 47 years. 20% of the population were under 18, 5.7% between 18 and 24, 21.8% between 25 and 44, 30.4% between 45 and 64 and 22.1 65 years or older. 50% of the population were men and 50% women.

Census 2000

As of the 2000 census , there were 348 residents, 143 households and 95 families in Riverside. The population density was 151 per km². There were 153 housing units at an average density of 66.4 per km².

The population was 90.52% white , 0.29% African-American , 5.17% American Indian , 0.29% Asian , 1.15% other "races" and 2.59 % % from two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 2.87% of the population.

Of the 143 households, 30.1% had children under the age of 18, 49% were run by married couples living together, and 11.9% by single mothers; 32.9% were non-families. 24.5% of the households were singles and 11.9% were single persons over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.93.

The median age in the city was 39 years. 26.7% of the population were under 18, 5.7% between 18 and 24, 27.9% between 25 and 44, 21.3% between 45 and 64 and 18.4 65 years or older. There were 105.9 men for every 100 women, and 104 men for every 100 women over the age of 18.

All information on median income relates to the median. The median household income was US $ 23,125; that of families was US $ 28,250. Men had a median income of US $ 28,750 compared to US $ 19,375 for women. The per capita income was US $ 11,297. About 12.9% of families and 18.4% of the total population lived below the poverty line ; this affected 24.4% of those under 18 years of age and 9.2% of those over 65 years of age.
