The Rivière Petit Saguenay ( French for "Little Saguenay") is a tributary of the Saguenay Fjord in the Canadian province of Québec .
The small lake Troisième lac des Marais in the east of the Laurentine Mountains is the origin of the Rivière Petit Saguenay. This initially flows north through the mountain lakes Lac au Sable , Lac au Bouleau and Lac Emmuraillé . Then he turns to the east. At Sagard it turns abruptly to the north and flows in a predominantly northerly direction through the northeast of the MRC Charlevoix-Est and the extreme southeast of the MRC Le Fjord-du-Saguenay . The route 170 runs on this section alongside the river until after Petit-Saguenay , where it turns to the west. The river flows another 3 km to the north to the south bank of the Saguenay Fjord - about 35 km above its confluence with the St. Lawrence River - estuary . The Rivière Petit Saguenay has a length of 77 km. It drains an area of 816 km². Its mean discharge is 17 m³ / s.
The Rivière Petit Saguenay is known as the Salmon River .
