The Rivière Sainte-Marguerite is a tributary of the Fjord du Saguenay in the administrative regions Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean and Côte-Nord of the Canadian province of Québec .
The Rivière Sainte-Marguerite has its origin in the lake Lac Sainte-Marguerite in the Canton de Silvy. The upper reaches of the Rivière Sainte-Marguerite, where it flows to the southwest, is in the Parc national des Monts-Valin . About 15 km northeast of Saint-Fulgence , however, it then turns sharply to the east and then runs over a distance of 60 km in a glacier-shaped river valley just under 10 km north of the Saguenay Fjord parallel to it. At the confluence with the Rivière Sainte-Marguerite Nord-Est near Sacré-Cœur coming from the east , the river changes its direction to the south and shortly afterwards flows into the fjord, about 25 km before it joins the Saint Lawrence River .
The Rivière Sainte-Marguerite has a length of about 100 km. It drains an area of 2132 km², more than half of which is accounted for by the tributary Rivière Sainte-Marguerite Nord-Est. The mean discharge is given as 42 m³ / s.
