The Rivière du Gouffre is a left tributary of the Saint Lawrence River in the Canadian province of Québec .
The Rivière du Gouffre forms the outflow of the Lac du Cœur in the Laurentine Mountains not far from the Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie . It then flows through the neighboring lake Lac du Gouffre . The Rivière du Gouffre flows mainly in a southerly direction through the MRC Charlevoix . It leaves the mountains and takes the rivers Rivière des Îlets and Rivière du Gouffre Sud-Ouest on the right. He later passed the Sprengel Saint-Urbain . It flows further downstream through the small town of Baie-Saint-Paul , where the Bras du Nord-Ouest meets it from the right. Finally, the Rivière du Gouffre flows into the Baie Saint-Paul of the Saint Lawrence River estuary opposite the island of Île aux Coudres . The river has a length of 72 km. Its catchment area covers 1002 km². The mean discharge is 22 m³ / s.
