The Rivière du Loup ( French for "Wolf River") is a right tributary of the Rivière Chaudière in the administrative regions of Estrie and Chaudière-Appalaches of the Canadian province of Québec .
The Rivière du Loup has its origin near the border with Maine (USA) in the small lake Lac Émilie in the MRC Le Granit . It flows through the regional county town of Beauce-Sartigan in a predominantly northerly direction . The Route 173 follows the course of Saint-Théophile downstream. The river passes the commune of Saint-Côme-Linière and flows into the Rivière Chaudière at Jersey Mills , a southern district of Saint-Gilles . The Rivière du Loup has a length of about 75 km. Its catchment area covers approximately 900 km².
Between 1935 and 1965 the river was named Rivière Linière . After that, it got its previous name again - Rivière du Loup .
