The Roßmannsbach is a left tributary of the Zorge in the urban area of Nordhausen in the Thuringian district of Nordhausen . From the source to the mouth, the Roßmannsbach is a second order body of water, and maintenance is the responsibility of the Harz foreland water maintenance association.

course

The Roßmannsbach rises near Rüdigsdorf Switzerland , the majority of which is under nature protection. From the source near Petersdorf to the confluence with the Zorge, it flows mainly in a southerly direction. A large part of its stream bed has been renatured in order to restore a natural stream biotope. Shortly before its mouth, it passes the Nordhausen sewage treatment plant.

Renaturation

The renaturation of the Rössingsbach, similar to the Röstegraben in and around large swaps , was a pilot project of the Free State of Thuringia to show in a model how water bodies in the state should be restored to nature again in the future. Previously, the stream was completely piped up, now that it is flowing outdoors again, it is once again a habitat for animals and has also been made accessible to visitors.
